Woodloch Resorts

"We judge acts by doors. A '10 Door' act would mean we had to open 10 doors during their show so people could leave. A '1 door' or '2 door' act would be signed immediately. You guys are a '0 door' act!"

"I've been in the biz full time since 1980 and I can not laugh any harder! Al is a master at improvisation!"

“If you did 100 shows last year that's like 600 people who, for the rest of their lives, will talking about that time they got to be a part of an awesome comedy show. Now keep multiplying that by how many years you're doing this."

Al’s fast paced off the cuff show can be based entirely on the theme of your event or the vibe of the audience that night. The crowd give us the ideas and suggestions that we use on the spot, so there's no predicting the punch line and no show is the same twice! It's an evening filled with call backs and catch phrases that those in attendance will be using for months or years to come!

Improv Instruction

For over 20 years, I’ve had the joy of teaching improv comedy to students of all ages and backgrounds. From packed comedy clubs like Long Island’s “The Brokerage” for adults to local theater programs for kids and teens, I’ve helped beginners find their comedic voice and seasoned performers sharpen their instincts. My approach blends classic improv principles with real-world performance experience, focusing on trust, timing, and the power of saying “yes, and.” Whether in a short-form game or a long-form scene, I believe improv teaches us more than just how to be funny—it teaches us how to listen, collaborate, and stay present in the moment.

My work has taken me beyond the stage as well, leading workshops for corporate teams looking to improve communication and creativity. I’ve also been proud to teach at Hofstra University’s Continuing Education program, where I’ve designed and led courses that made improv accessible, challenging, and fun for students from all walks of life. Watching people step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and discover joy in spontaneous creation has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.

Student Testimonials

Laura Malbera, Dream Maker’s Performing Arts

"Al in an incredible, focused and patient teacher. Every kid I know who has taken his classes has come away with a better understanding of improv and as a better all-around performer.”

Tom Kelly, Comedian / Writer / Producer

"I've taken classes with Al in the beginning of my career. There is nothing better than winding up at a comedy club and knowing you're working with Al Issacs for the weekend. The only thing that might be better? Going to a comedy club and seeing Al perform!

Deb Honoroff, Hofstra University (Retired)

"Al Isaacs teaches a comedy improv class at Hofstra Continuing Education and it is one of our most popular classes. Al consistently gets excellent evaluations and always has great ideas for new programs. I've also seen Al perform numerous times and he never fails to have the audience hysterically laughing. I highly recommend both Al's class as well as his performances.

Sue Funke, Creative Content Strategist, Digital Brand Management, Organic Social Media Expert

"It is often said you can't teach comedy. What's refreshing about Al Isaacs is that he does not attempt to teach people to be funny. He teaches people about comedy. Al's classes help aspiring comedians understand the business and the art of comedy. Fairly priced, and always fun Al Isaac's classes were an absolute pleasure to be a part of. I'm grateful for the time spent working with Al and believe he helped me hone in on my comedic timing skills -- for that I'm eternally grateful.
